Abrams Sets His Retirement Timer
• We want to take a moment and send our best wishes to veteran programmer Kris Abrams, who currently serves as Operations Manager of Cumulus Albuquerque’s Music Brands — KDRF, KMGA, KOBQ, KRST & KTBL — and PD of KDRF, KMGA & KTBL, who announced his impending retirement, effective in early March. “It’s time to call it a career, and I figured you could escort me out… LOL,” Abrams tells RAMP.
Abrams continues, “As I step away, I smile, knowing my brother Keith (who recently retired) and I followed in our Dad’s radio footsteps — and both had a good radio career, which brings an incredible smile. I can’t say enough good things about Cumulus — my two-time GM, Jeff Berry, and corporate partnerships — Brian Phillips, John Dimick, Val Garris, Chris Hoffman and the entire Cumulus corporate programming team. Good radio people. Really good humans. That says something.”
He added, “There are a lot of great people in this company guiding some great audio brands. I will be the guy sitting on the sidelines cheering them on.” In the meantime, Abrams said, “I would love to hear from my radio friends as I walk away and wave. It was everything I hoped it would be.” Share your sentiments with Kris at Kris@KrisAbrams.com or 602-918-9450 (cell).
