Adams Circles Back Home To Alaska

A memo from Last Frontier COO Perry Walley, reads, in part, “McConnell will be based in Anchorage and will continue his on-air roles with [Rhythmic Hot AC] KMVN (MOViN 105.7)/Anchorage and [Top 40] KWLF (K-Wolf 98.1)/Fairbanks while also taking on additional responsibilities across our stations and helping us continue to grow our brands.” Adams has been tracking both stations since he was in Lansing a few years ago.
Walley added, “In his expanded role, McConnell will be involved in a variety of areas, including on-air programming, station imaging and branding, music, promotions, social media, digital content, contests, and overall brand development. He’ll be working on projects for both our Anchorage and Fairbanks markets to help strengthen the sound, image, and presence of our stations.”
Adams, who most recently programmed Cumulus AC KURB (B98.5) & Top 40 KLAL (Alice 107.7)/Little Rock, enjoys a lengthy history with Alaska radio — he earlier spent a decade programming Ohana Rhythmic KFAT/Anchorage and doing afternoons on iHeart Top 40 rival KGOT. He later moved to frosty Fairbanks as PD of KWLF (K-Wolf 98.1). His four-decade radio career also includes a stint as OM of Delta Radio’s five-station group in his hometown of Greenville, MI, and Townsquare Media in Lansing, MI as Brand Manager of Top 40 WJIM (97.5 Now) and AC 99.1 WFMK/Lansing, MI and Director of Content for the cluster.
RAMP checked in with Adams, who told us, “From literally being on the beach in Puerto Rico to stepping back on the air in Alaska… wait, it’s already snowing?! All jokes aside, Alaska has been a huge part of my life for ten years, and I’m blessed and honored to rejoin this team. A massive thank you to Perry Walley for welcoming me back. It’s rare to find a broadcast team with a culture that truly puts local community first while backing innovation and hard work. I can’t wait to get to work.”
