Pros In Motion: Billy Brown
• Billy Brown has returned to WVRC Media’s WKWS (Superstar Country 96.1 KWS)/Charleston, WV, this time as morning host.
The move is a radio homecoming for Brown, who was PD and afternoon drive talent at 96.1 KWS from 2017 through 2022. Most recently, he was part of the on-air lineup over on Bristol Broadcasting rival 97.5 WQBE (Twenty-Four Carrot Country).
“I’m really glad to have Billy back,” said PD Crash Poteet, who has been covering mornings since previous wake-up host Robb Reel relocated to Columbia, SC in August as Creative Services Director for Midlands Media Group, and Brand Manager/Morning Host on WUDE (94.3 The DUDE). “He has a history with KWS and with Country radio in Charleston, and it just feels right to have him where so many listeners remember him.”
Brown remarked, “I grew up in Wheeling and relocated to Charleston in 2017. 96.1 KWS was my baby for its first five years. Crash has taken the station to another level, and I’m extremely excited to be back.”
Brown’s extensive resume includes stops at WKIS/Miami, Star 94/Atlanta, WBZZ/Pittsburgh, and WFUS/Tampa, as well as two tours of duty in Orlando at CMG Adult Hits WMMO and CBS Radio AC WOCL (105.9 Sunny FM) from 2008-2010.
