Reimagination Underway At Urban One DFW
• Urban One is “reimagining” its Dallas-Ft. Worth radio cluster — KBFB (97.9 The Beat), 105.7 KRNB, and KKDA (K104) — “with dynamic talent, bold programming, and a fresh audio identity.”
> 97.9 The Beat: Renowned comedian and Radio Hall of Famer Rickey Smiley returns to anchor mornings at 5am, followed by Jazzi Black from 9am-3pm, and Bryhana Monegain (left, ex-middays on Power 106/LA) in afternoon drive. Rounding out the day, Posted on the Corner with Incognito and DJ Misses takes firm hold of the evening shift.
> 105.7 KRNB drops its “Smooth R&B 105.7” positioner in favor of 105.7 RnB, and debuts a vibrant new sound with a curated mix of R&B spanning the ’90s, ’00s, and today.
> K104: DeDe McGuire continues to lead the syndicated DeDe in the Morning, followed by Michael Shawn (right) in middays, and Hollywood Bay Bay in afternoon drive. Lil D transitions to evenings.
Operations Manager Yonni Rude commented, “This strategic realignment strengthens Radio One Dallas’ ability to serve the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with exceptional entertainment, engaging personalities, and compelling content that connects with our audiences.”
VP/GM Maurice Potts added, “Our programming continues to evolve in ways that better reflect the audience that we serve and the direction of our brands. Rebranding 105.7 gives us an opportunity to create an even stronger, more distinctive connection with our audience while delivering the music and personalities they love. These changes reflect our commitment to keeping our stations fresh, relevant, and focused on serving our listeners.”
