Beverlee Brannigan Exits SummitMedia

• In a surprising turn of events, SummitMedia SVP of Programming Beverlee Brannigan has left the company. Brannigan, a 2012 inductee into the Country Radio Hall of Fame, broke her own news in a Facebook post that read, in part, “Friday was my last day with SummitMedia. Business. It happens. Here’s what I don’t want you to say about that: ‘Radio sucks. I’ll never listen to those stations again.’ That’s dumb and mean. Business is hard, and my former colleagues and friends are putting their hearts into making their radio stations the best they can be. So please listen more. And advertise there, because it works… Another thing I’d like is more cat pictures and memes about punctuation and grammar showing up on my timeline. You know where to find me. See you soon.”

Brannigan joined the company (then Journal Broadcast Group) in 2002 as OM of the Wichita group and was later elevated to VP of Radio Programming for the cluster that includes CMA Station of the Year winner KFDI & Classic Country KFTI-AM. In 2014, after a brief stint as OM of the company’s Milwaukee group, under new owner Scripps, Brannigan relocated back to Wichita as Market President/GM and VP of Radio Programming. After six years of juggling both roles, and now working for new owner SummitMedia, Brannigan was named SVP of Programming in January of this year.

Brannigan spent the first 20 years of her career on-air and programming roles in Des Moines, IA. Looking ahead, Bev can now be reached at radiobeverleebrannigan@gmail.com.
