CMG Orlando Inks Stewart & Calder
• Cox Media Group has named Steve Stewart as Director of Programming Operations for the company’s Orlando cluster — Top 40 WPYO (Power 95.3), Country WWKA (K92.3), Urban AC WCFB (Star 94.5) and 107.3 FM Solo Exitos (WCFB-HD2) and Will Calder as Director of Branding and Programming for the new Power 95.3.
Stewart (left), who most recently programmed iHeartMedia Country WEBG (BIG 95.5)/Chicago, will also oversee day-to-day programming duties on K92.3 and succeeds Steve DeMann, who exited at the end of April. Calder (right) spent the past five years as APD/MD/Imaging Director and midday personality at Entercom Rhythmic WPOW (Power 96)/Miami until two weeks ago.
“Steve Stewart impressed us from the very start,” said Steve Smith, Vice President of Radio Programming at Cox Media Group. “He possesses the leadership skills to light up Orlando with our amazing cluster of great radio brands.” Stewart said, “I’m incredibly excited to work with the CMG Orlando team and everyone at Cox Media Group. The energy and talent in this group have us poised for success.”
Speaking of Calder, Smith said, “Will Calder is a warrior, the perfect addition to our CMG programming arsenal of winners.” Calder commented, “I’ve always been very impressed by the teams at Cox Media Group, especially after going up against them for the past several years in Miami. Now, I’m absolutely honored to be joining them in Orlando and can’t wait to start making some major noise with the Power 95.3 crew on-air, on the streets, on social media and with partners and clients.”
Stewart reports directly to Jason Meder, General Manager of CMG Orlando, who said, “Together, Steve and Will bring a wealth of big market programming experience to Orlando. They will work with our teams and lead our brands to continued success serving our listeners and community.”
