de Blonk de Man At Fargo’s Froggy
• Midwest Communications Country KVOX (Froggy 99.9)/Fargo, ND promotes from within and taps cluster vet Joel de Blonk as its new Brand Manager and host of The Joel de Show from 2-6pm. Fortunately, it’s a short commute to the new gig for de Blonk, who spent the past four years across the hall as APD/pm driver on Top 40 sister KOYY (Y94). As part of the move, “E” shifts from evenings to afternoons at Y94.
The move is a radio homecoming for de Blonk, who said, “If you know me, you know my entire life has been full of wandering. As a kid, I spent a year living in Fargo, and Froggy 99.9 was part of my story. If you told younger me that one day I’d be the Brand Manager of Froggy, I’d probably be doing the ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie!’ It’s an absolute honor to now call Fargo-Moorhead home and be part of such a legendary heritage station and brand.”
de Blonk’s elevation takes some of the programming load off Operations Manager Corey “Zero” Schaffer, who remarked, “Joel has a passion, excitement and genuine love for radio that you just can’t manufacture. More importantly, he has a vision for what Froggy can be and the drive to make it happen.” He added, “Calling this Froggy 99.9’s ‘next chapter’ almost feels too small. With Joel leading the way, we’re excited about the next series of books for this legendary brand.”
Now that he’s occupying the big bad Froggy boss chair, de Blonk is actively seeking a new Froggy midday talent.
