Garett Michaels Leaving SDLOCAL

• With the recent end of joint operating agreement between Local Media San Diego and Midwest Television as SDLOCAL, Garett Michaels announced his decision to exercise his option to leave his position as PD/afternoon personality on KFMB (100.7 KFM-BFM)/San Diego.

Michaels had served as SDLOCAL’s Director Rock Programming for both KFMB-FM and Alternative XTRA (91X). It was January 4, 2016 when Michaels oversaw the rebrand of KFMB from Adult Hits JACK-FM and launched “100.7 KFM-BFM, True Variety That Rocks.”

Michaels’ San Diego radio roots date back to 2002 as the original and founding PD of KBZT (FM 94/9), a position he held for nearly a decade. More recently he spent two years at the helm of KNDD (107.7 The End)/Seattle. Michaels’ earlier programming stops include KYPT (96.5 The Point)/Seattle, WHYT/WPLT (The Planet)/Detroit and WPLY (Y100)/Philadelphia.

Going forward, Michaels will continue to be involved with 91X as its consultant, and is now available to offer boutique consultation to a limited number of stations through his Kitchen Counter Consulting. He can be reached at 619-993-4121 and garettsd@gmail.com.
