Happy 50th, KGON!

• Audacy Classic Rock 92.3 KGON/Portland, OR celebrates its 50th anniversary of rocking NW Oregon and SW Washington on Thursday, Feb. 1, joining Audacy sisters KISW/Seattle, WXRT/Chicago, and WCMF/Rochester, NY as one of the few rock stations nationwide to join that elite half-century club. Since launching with The Beatles‘ “Here Comes the Sun” in 1974, we are told that 92.3 KGON has become one of the most-listened-to Rock stations in the Portland area.

To mark this significant broadcast milestone, KGON is launching a dedicated website featuring a merchandise museum, vintage photos, videos and interviews with former air talent, including Mark Thompson of Mark & Brian, Iris Harrison, Dave Scott and Marty Party.

“It’s not every day a station turns 50, and we’re incredibly proud of what this brand means to the city of Portland,” said Ryan Castle, Brand Manager of 92.3 KGON. “Of course, the longevity of this brand would not be possible without the generations of loyal listeners and our team members’ unwavering dedication to the Classic Rock format. Cheers to the next 50 years!”

To help celebrate this half-century of service, KGON is accepting memories and messages from listeners via voicemail at 458-237-7972, which will be featured during its full day of anniversary programming.
