Nina Cruz Comes Home To KKFR

• Desert Valley Media Group Rhythmic KKFR (Power 98.3/96.1)/Phoenix welcomes hometown favorite Nina Cruz as midday host and Assistant Brand Manager. Cruz succeeds former midday talent Ashley V, who was recently hired by Audacy to fill the dual role of midday host on Classic Hip Hop KRBQ (102.1 Jams)/San Francisco and afternoons on Top 40 KUDL (106.5 The End)/Sacramento.

Joining KKFR marks a full-circle moment for Cruz, who interned at the former Power 92 during her senior year of high school. Cruz formally started her radio career in 2005 across the street at Sierra H Urban AC KAJM (Mega 104.3) as Promotions Director and night jock; in May 2009 she left to do nights at KKUU/Palm Springs, returning to Sierra H in February 2015 and later named APD/morning co-host at Classic Hip Hop KNRJ (101.1 The Beat) alongside market vet Gello.

“From the moment Nina stepped into the halls of DVMG, I knew she was a star,” said J Steele, PD of Power 98.3/96.1. “Now to have her bless the Power airwaves, it’s certainly the missing piece of the puzzle. There’s no doubt that she will make a difference both on the air and off the air! Welcome to the family!”

Cruz commented, “This is truly a dream come true, to be a part of the same radio station I grew up listening to, and being Assistant Brand Manager is an honor. I can’t wait to get started and be back on air, where I belong.”

Cruz will be heard weekdays from 10am-3pm. Joining her for a 98 Minute Mix Show will be Valley DJ “Oh Jezuz” kicking off the Power Lunch Hour at noon.
