Inland Northwest Launches Classic Hits KRPL

• After days of stunting with a continuous loop of “Whipped Cream” by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, Inland Northwest Broadcasting 102.5 KRAO/Colfax, WA, serving the Pullman, WA/Moscow, ID markets has formally transitioned from Hot AC to Classic Hits, now identifying as 102.5 KRPL (ahead of a call letter change), borrowing branding from sister ESPN affiliate KRPL-AM.

This marks the return of KRPL as a music radio station in Moscow-Pullman for the first time since 2011, when KRPL-AM flipped from Oldies to Sports-Talk. Notable names who worked at the original KRPL include the late, legendary Larry “Super Jock” Lujack, popular Canadian radio & television personality Marilyn Denis, and Seattle’s Beau Roberts.

Matt Mony, best known for his work at Z90/San Diego & WYOY (Y101)/Jackson, MS will continue to consult the station and handle morning duties. And making his triumphant return as the station’s big voice is recently-retired market legend Steve Shannon, whose history with KRPL/Inland Northwest Broadcasting dates back to the late ’70s, aside from a five-year stint at KJR-FM/Seattle.

Mony said, “With the launch of this radio station, we are passionate about two things: Driving passion for radio, and making sure our local businesses continue to succeed. The partnership between 102.5 KRPL and the downtown Pullman businesses is vital for everybody’s survival.” Sales Manager Jon Carson added, “We are excited to build a brand which will serve our radio audience AND advertisers. The heritage branding ‘KRPL’ returning for Classic Hits is the missing piece of the puzzle.”
