Laura Lee Lands @ CD102.5

• By any measure, it’s been an emotionally fraught month for the staff of Alternative WWCD (CD102.5)/Columbus, OH — on June 6, PD Mase Brazelle died, and last week longtime CD102.5 APD/midday talent Rachael Gordon resigned after 15 years with the station.

At the same time, RAMP has learned that CD102.5 Owner/President/GM Randy Malloy has brought in veteran programmer/air talent Laura Lee as interim PD/midday personality, starting Monday, July 13. Ms. Lee most recently programmed Sunrise Broadcasting Alternative WRMR (Modern Rock 98.7)/Wilmington, NC until last November, when budget cuts lead to her departure.

In an email announcing Lee’s hire, Malloy laid out the compelling career connection between Brazelle and Lee, as he explained, “Mase and Laura had both applied to WRMR for the PD position — Laura was ultimately hired but remained close to Mase. I spoke to Laura a few months back about using her as an outside voice for an on-air bit that Mase and I were talking about. After Mase passed Laura and I spoke often… her musical tastes and 20 years of experience in the industry as well as her willingness to drop everything to come help ultimately lead this decision.” Malloy added, “Change is inevitable in every type of organization, and we look at this as another chapter in our now 30-year history here at CD102.5. We are excited that Laura will be part of the team as we rise to this challenge and look forward to the future.”

Prior to joining WRMR in August 2017, Lee worked for Adams Radio Group in Salisbury-Ocean City, MD as Promotions Director for the cluster and PD/midday personality for Classic Rock WGBG (Big 98.5). Lee began her radio career in 2000 with Entercom Sacramento and later worked for LM Communications in Charleston, SC as PD of Triple A WCOO (105.5 The Bridge) and middays on Active Rock sister WYBB (98 Rock). Laura Lee is now in the house and can be reached at laura@cd1025.com.
