Love Comes Home To Minneapolis

• Five years after Cumulus dropped its “Love 105” AC format from Twin Cities-area trimulcast WGVX/LakevilleWLUP/CambridgeWWWM/Eden Prairie, MN, the company announced the end of the current Classic Hip Hop format — 105 The Vibe — and the return of Love 105 — after it finishes playing lovely holiday music, of course.

Shelly Wilkes, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Media Minneapolis-St. Paul, said, “Love 105 was a very successful format for us and we are excited to return to it.” Scott Jameson, Cumulus VP of Classic Rock and Operations Manager of Cumulus Minneapolis/St. Paul, commented, “The snow is already falling in Minnesota, creating a perfect backdrop for the greatest holiday songs ever made. Love 105 is back!”

• On his Facebook page, Jay Philpott announced he was stepping down from nights on Classic Rock clustermate KQRS in late December and will be crossing the hall to Love 105 as APD and afternoon personality.

As Philpott (left) posted, “I’ll be busy as I continue to do my nightly show on about 50 stations through the Westwood One Radio Network and make a few fill-in and maybe some weekends appearances on KQ. I gotta thank Shelly Malecha Wilkes, Scott Jameson, Mike McVay, Emily Boldon and many others in Cumulus for acknowledging the work I did on the KQRS 50th anniversary celebration, and blessing me with this new opportunity. I just love radio, man.”
