Mahoney Rejoins Audacy As RVP/Alternative
• UPDATED: Audacy welcomes Ross Mahoney back into the family as the newly named Regional Vice President for Alternative. In this role, Mahoney will oversee his former station, KXTE (ALT 107.5)/Las Vegas, as well as KRBZ (ALT 96.5)/Kansas City, WQMP (FM 101.9)/Orlando and WRXL (ALT 102.1)/Richmond.
“Ross is a passionate, thoughtful and strategic programmer who understands the current landscape and is eager to jump in and make a positive impact,” said Kevin Weatherly, Audacy Alternative Format Vice President. “We can’t wait for him to get started.”
The building should look plenty familiar to Mahoney, who previously programmed ALT 107.5/Las Vegas until his departure in Sept. 2020 during a round of corporate downsizing. Prior to his arrival in Vegas in May 2016, Mahoney programmed Sunrise Broadcasting Alternative WRMR (Modern Rock 98.7)/Wilmington, NC. Mahoney started his radio journey as an intern at WPBZ/West Palm Beach, FL and worked his way up to APD/MD/afternoon drive host.

• Mahoney succeeds Matt Malone (left), who exits after three years. Malone joined the former Entercom in May 2019 as PD of Alternative WQMP (FM 101.9)/Orlando and was elevated into the RVP/Alt post in Sept. 2020, when then Entercom “reimagined” its Alt and Country formats and realigned its programming and on-air teams.
Malone previously spent three years as APD/MD and afternoon personality for Cumulus Alternative KCJK (X105.1). He earlier served as APD of El Dorado Broadcasters’ Alternative KURQ-FM/San Luis Obispo, CA, Corporate Programming Asst. for Cumulus Classic Hits WLS-FM/Chicago and an on-air personality for Alternative WLUM (FM 102/1)/Milwaukee.
