One Chapter Ends, Another Begins
And such is the case for Drew Kelly, Vice President of Programming for Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation in Sunbury-Selinsgrove-Lewisburg, PA, who yesterday told us, “After nearly 20 years at Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation, I have chosen to pursue a career outside broadcasting — September 8, 2017 will be my last day on the air on [Hot AC] WQKX (94KX). The following Monday I begin as the Marketing & Communications Director at the newly created Miller Center for Recreation and Wellness in Lewisburg, PA.”
In his capacity as VP of Programming, Kelly is PD of WQKX and also oversees AC WVLY/Milton, Classic Rock WEGH/Northumberland, News WKOK-AM/Sunbury and News-Talk WMLP-AM/Milton. Kelly continued, “I’m thoroughly grateful for my time here, and am extremely proud of all that we’ve accomplished together. From the over $500,000 we raised for Children’s Miracle Network to our latest across-the-board #1 Nielsen ratings, I recognize that I have been blessed to do this for a living and will miss waking up the Sunbury-Selinsgrove-Lewisburg, PA market immensely.” He added, “I’m not kidding when I say that this is one of the best gigs in all of radio. Family-owned for 84 years, a wonderful workplace climate, an amazing quality of life and an operation that is enjoying years-long dominance in the marketplace. I’m crazy to leave… but hey, when you know, you know.”
• A nationwide search for Kelly’s successor is now underway — interested applicants should reach out directly to Sunbury Broadcasting President & CEO Roger Haddon at haddon@wqkx.com.
