Phoenix Pros On The Loose
• Yesterday we reported that Audacy Classic Hits KOOL-FM/Phoenix had rebranded as BIG 94.5. What was not mentioned at the time, was that, concurrent with this change, longtime KOOL-FM APD/afternoon personality veteran Charlie Huero was let go, along with morning co-host Dee Garcia, whose partner, Niko Petrou, was shifted to afternoon drive as part of the rebrand.
Huero originally arrived Phoenix in 1998 and spent his first decade at KKFR (then Power 92). He joined KOOL in 2009 and did middays, afternoons, and hosted the “Be Kind Always” podcast. Charlie is now seeking his next opportunity and can be contacted at huero92@aol.com.
Garcia joined KOOL in April 2019, following similar Phoenix morning co-host stints on Riviera Broadcasting Rhythmic Hot AC KMVA (Hot 97.5/103.9) and Rhythmic KKFR (Power 98.3/96/1). Her previous stops include WWKX/Providence, KWYD/Boise, ID and KBFM/McAllen-Brownsville, TX.
