• Impact Radio Group performs some fancy PD-shuffling inside its Boise, ID broadcast complex — let’s start with Curtis Booker, currently PD/afternoon talent on Hot AC KZMG (My 102.7), who has been named PD of Rhythmic KWYD (Wild 101), effective immediately. He will succeed JD Garfield, who was recently named PD of WDJX/Louisville. Booker (left) joined Impact Radio Group in January of 2016 to do nights on Wild 101 and serve as APD. Last fall Booker crossed the hall to do afternoons on KZMG; effective July 1, Booker will unplug from KZMG and take over the midday slot at Wild 101.

In making the announcement, Darrell Calton, CEO of Impact Radio Group remarked, “Booker brings the company years of experience from larger markets, a lifelong obsession for radio, and a determination to excel. His strong work ethic and easy-going personality are forging him into an invaluable part of Team Impact.”

• The company wasted zero time in securing a qualified replacement for Booker at KZMG — say hello to James Garner (no, not the late actor who starred in The Rockford Files)… this particular Garner is a ten-year company vet and PD of Adult Hits sister KSRV (96.1 Bob FM), who will now double his PD portfolio by annexing PD/afternoon drive duties at My 102.7. Garner joined Impact Radio Group in July of 2007 as the company’s Production Director and was named PD of Bob FM in March 2014.

“It was a no-brainer that James would be the guy to take on our Hot AC with the amount of success he has had behind the wheel of Bob FM,” said Calton, who added, “James Garner has been involved from the start. He has seen this market and this company at both their best and worst of times. He is one of the players that have consistently worked with us to really build something special and is no stranger to hard work. We are really excited to see where James goes with My102.7.” Garner will officially take over the KZMG afternoon show from Curtis Booker on July 3 — which just happens to mark Garner’s tenth anniversary with the company.
