Raph Returns As APD/PM At MYfm/L.A.
• A familiar face has come back home to the iHeartMedia complex in beautiful downtown Burbank, as Raphael “Raph” Opida ends his brief radio hiatus and is named APD and afternoon drive talent at Hot AC KBIG (104.3 MYfm)/Los Angeles, starting March 28.
You may recall that Raph spent two years across the hall on KIIS-FM from 2019 to 2021, before taking some time off to pursue active-duty opportunities in the New York Army National Guard. Turns out radio is more fun. Prior to his run at KIIS-FM, Raph was APD/MD night jock at sister WIOQ (Q102)/Philadelphia. He began his radio career in 2007 as a morning show intern at WPXY/Rochester, NY, later rising to Promotions Director and did nights, afternoons and middays.
Raph will report to John Peake, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Los Angeles, and PD of 104.3 MYfm, who said, “We are thrilled to have Raph back with iHeart LA and our new afternoon host on MYfm. He’s talented and motivated and knows how to connect on any platform. He will add great depth to our programming bench as he steps in as Assistant Program Director. I’m looking forward to working with Raph in both roles.”
Raph remarked, “After a short walk outside the radio world, I’m back and ready to take on the LA market, this time with 104.3 MYfm. It’s going to be a blast working with Valentine and the rest of the MYfm crew. Many thanks to iHeartMedia for affording me this great opportunity to utilize my programming chops. Plus, the Dodgers are hosting the MLB All-Star game this summer — nothing’s better than being in LA!”
