Rivers Circles Back To Rochester

• Stephens Media Group (SMG) Rochester, NY has tapped a familiar face to assume the role of Operations Manager for Alternative WZNE (94.1 The Zone), AC WRMM (Warm 101.3) and Adult Hits WFKL (Fickle 93.3) – after an eight-year run in Buffalo, Nik Rivers is making his triumphant return to SMG Rochester, where he formerly spent five years as PD of The Zone and Fickle 93.3, effective Dec. 16. Rivers will succeed Mike McCoy, who recently relocated to Phoenix for family reasons.

Rivers is a Western NY radio veteran who most recently programmed Townsquare Rock WBUF/Buffalo until August, when his position as Brand Manager/afternoon talent was eliminated due to budgetary issues. Before that he spent seven years across the street as PD of former Entercom/Audacy Alternative WLKK.

“After eight years in Buffalo, I am beyond excited to make the move back to Rochester and rejoin the amazing team at Stephens Media Group,” Rivers said. “I’m looking forward to working with the incredible talent at Warm 101.3, 94.1 The Zone and Fickle 93.3. The stations, and the cluster as a whole, are market leaders, and I’m looking forward to continuing the great run of success that they have had in Western New York while bringing a new attitude and passion to the group to help lead it into the future. I want to thank Stephens Media Group’s SVP of Programming Bob Thornton, GM Mike Ninnie, and Alternative Format Captain Josh Venable for entrusting me to lead SMG Rochester, and for the chance to come back home.”

Rivers’ earlier stops include PD/afternoons at WZMR (104.9 The Edge)/Albany, NY; APD/MD/afternoons at WPBZ (103.1 The Buzz)/West Palm Beach; afternoons at WRLX (Planet Radio 92.1)/West Palm Beach, MD/nights at WPXC/Cape Cod and he got his first radio break as a Promotions Assistant at the late WAAF/Boston.
