Seattle Forecast: Soft-N-Smokey

• Veteran programmer Smokey Rivers is headed to Seattle as the inaugural PD of Soft AC KSWD (94.1 The Sound), effective May 21. 94.1 The Sound launched on December 4, 2017 on the site of former CBS Radio Country KMPS and features John Fisher in the morning and the Premiere-syndicated Delilah in middays.

Rivers relocates from Tucson, where he was most recently Director of Operations and Program Director of Scripps AC KMXZ (94.9 MIXfm). “Smokey joins The Sound at a great time as we are already experiencing phenomenal growth with the station. Our on-air hosts John Fisher and Delilah are just getting started,” said Jack Hutchison, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Seattle. “We are thrilled and excited Smokey will be joining our talented team of Program Directors here in Seattle.”

Over the past three decades, Rivers has also served as VP of Programming at iHeartMedia Phoenix, VP of AC Programming for CBS Radio and VP of Programming for Stoner Broadcasting Systems. He’s also held management positions at KVIL/Dallas, WNEW/New York and KYKY/St. Louis, along with stops in Washington, Nashville, Memphis, San Francisco and Birmingham, AL.

“To program an Entercom station with John Fisher hosting mornings and Delilah hosting middays is a dream role for me,” said Rivers. “Thanks to Dave Richards, Jack Hutchison and Nikki Nite for inviting me to join their high-performing team. I’m looking forward to getting to know Puget Sound listeners.”
