Shomby + Paulus: Radio’s Fresh Eyes
• Two veteran broadcasting pros — John Shomby and Dave Paulus, have smartly pooled their combined 70 years of industry experience to launch Radio’s Fresh Eyes, described in the colorful brochure as “a new culture and leadership consultancy… designed to help radio groups of all sizes create a dominant and unparalleled employee culture.”
For over 40 years, the Nashville-based Shomby (left), has programmed multiple formats and overseen station launches across the U.S. Paulus (right), is an award-winning, 35-year broadcaster who, along with Shomby, has developed media clusters across the country. A past President of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB), Paulus is the recipient of that organization’s CT Lucy Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Emerging out of the COVID economy, we believe that this is an opportunity to create legendary cultures within organizations,” said Paulus. “There’s never been more employment options for industry talent to consider — Radio’s Fresh Eyes will give broadcast executives a clean and objective look at how their organization lives and breathes.” Shomby explained, “Over in the past 18 months, our industry has become a very different workplace and the most difficult challenge facing station groups has been growing the culture within while growing revenue numbers. Dave and I have seen it, experienced it and we created Radio’s Fresh Eyes to help stations across every department and touch every employee.” Paulus continued, “We know what makes great companies win. Shomby will continue to operate his other consulting firm, “Country’s Radio Coach,” as well as his work as Talent Relations Consultant for United Stations’ Backstage Country. Paulus will remain a marketing consultant for the VAB, representing radio and television stations throughout the state.
