Stephens Launches ‘Tulsa’s Soft Oldies’

• At 3pm local time on Tuesday, Stephens Media Group Tulsa flipped the big switch, transforming 100.9 KTSO (Totally Awesome ’80s) to “Tulsa’s Soft Oldies,” now featuring acoustic and soft rock from the ’70s through ’90s. At the same time, KTSO’s four-year-old “Totally Awesome ’80s” format moves over to KTSO-HD2 and translator K233AU at 94.5FM.

“This is an expansion of what began with KTSO in 2016,” said SVP of Programming Bob Thornton. “The ’80s stream had 1.5 million listens worldwide last month, so that audience will be happy to know it’s still going to be there on the apps, HD Radio and online. But this gives KTSO an opportunity to expand its reach even further with a format that has been missing from Tulsa for a long time.”

The new station will also feature a new on-air lineup: Kent Jones will handle mornings, followed by Faith Martin in middays, Dave Weston in afternoon drive and Kevin Meyer as APD/evenings. Thornton will handle programming duties on “Tulsa’s Soft Oldies” until a new PD is named.
