The Rock Adds A Rock Star
• Durham Radio’s CKGE (94.9 The Rock)/Toronto is adding more rock star power to its on-air line-up with the addition of Christian Tanna, drummer for I Mother Earth taking over hosting duties of the station’s long-running new and emerging artist spotlight show, Generation Next Radio, enjoyed weeknights at 8pm and weekends at 11am and 8pm.
Tanna starts on Nov. 7 and succeeds Brian Moncarz, whose time has become more fully absorbed in his capacity as one of the most in-demand rock producers. Tanna also becomes the latest rock star added to the on-air team at 94.9 The Rock, joining Cone McCaslin of Sum 41.
“I’ve always wanted to work with the amazing crew at 94.9 The Rock in some capacity,” Tanna said. “Helping with the development of up-and-coming artists and bands, getting eyes and ears on them, is something I’ve always done in my career. Generation Next is about the best platform you could ask for to continue promoting emerging Canadian talent of the future so.. I’m in.”
Rock PD Doug Elliott remarked, “Adding star power to The Rock for spotlighting emerging artists getting and their music in front of a real pro is key.”
Since 2012 Generation Next Radio and Generation Next Live at the Phoenix Concert Theatre have featured over 1,000 new and emerging artists.
