• Last month we reported (crediting Country Aircheck) that VerStandig Media was spinning off the 104.7 frequency of its highly rated Country outlet WAYZ/Hagerstown, MD to Peter and John Radio Fellowship, Inc.’s Brighter Media Group for $3.1 million, which will buy them the 8,300-watt signal and transmitter site. Brighter Media plans to launch its “Bright FM” Christian AC format and change the call letters to WRYS.

Now… the rest of the story (with apologies to the Estate of Paul Harvey)…

All the resulting moves — starting Sept. 15 — are detailed on the VerStandig website, and they look something like this: the Country format on 104.7 WAYZ is moving to 101.5 FM (currently Active Rock sister WBHB (101.5 Bob Rocks). At the same time, Bob Rocks will relocate to 92.1 WIKG/Mercersburg, currently the home of Fox Sports affiliate 92.1 The GOAT, while The GOAT is taking over 100.9 FM and WLIN 1380 AM. Got all that?

As the site notes: “To make the transition smooth, Bob Rocks will simulcast on both 101.5 FM and 92.1 FM from Sept. 1-15. After that, Bob will live exclusively on 92.1 FM. From September 15-30, WAYZ will simulcast on both 101.5 FM and 104.7 FM. On October 1, WAYZ will return to its roots on 101.5 FM, where it all started back until the early 2000s!”
