WDRQ Jocks On The Loose
• Yesterday we reported the departure of David Corey as Director of FM Programming for WDRQ and WDVD as the company announced the sale of WDRQ to Christian broadcaster Family Life Radio. Today we learned that WDRQ morning co-host Renee Vitale has exited, while midday personality Marissa Lanchak and afternoon talent Kevin Kennedy will continue to track their shifts until the end of July when the sale is finalized. We understand that the lone survivor is morning co-host Aaron “Goose” Seller, who will remain with the company in a position TBA.
• Renee Vitale (left) is a native of Southeast Detroit and has spent the bulk of her 25-year career on Detroit radio — she did part-time on WDRQ when it was Top 40, later moved to WDVD, and was part of the morning show on WNIC from 2009-13. In 2015, Vitale left former CBS Radio Top 40 WDZH (98.7 AMP Radio) and returned to WDRQ as the local anchor of the syndicated America’s Morning Show. She also did fill-in on WDVD’s Blaine Fowler Morning Show. For 15 years, Vitale also worked in various roles at the Specs Howard School of Media Arts, including Director of Admissions. • Marissa Lanchak (center) originally joined WDRQ in April 2022. She previously worked with David Corey at WKLB/Boston and earlier did middays at Townsquare Country WGNA/Albany, NY. Before that she spent the better part of a decade as APD/MD/afternoon personality across the street on Pamal Top 40 WFLY (FLY 92). Lanchak is currently doing a bunch of voicetracking from her home studio and can be heard in Syracuse, NY; Wilmington, NC; Lexington, KY; Boston; Burlington, VT; Cape Girardeau, MO; and Albany, GA and fill-ins in Canton, OH. “I work hard to be topical, both pop culture-wise, and locally for each market as well as personable and relatable,” Lanchak tells RAMP. “Ready. • Kevin Kennedy (right) joined WDRQ in Dec. 2021. Like Lanchak, Kennedy also worked for Corey at WKLB/Boston, doing afternoons there for four years. Before that he did mornings at iHeartMedia Rhythmic AC WMOV (MOViN 107-7)/Norfolk. Fun Fact: Kennedy is the artist formerly known as “Nudge At Night,” whose Top 40 resume includes KIIS-FM/Los Angeles, WIOQ/Philadelphia, WHYI/Miami, KDWB/Minneapolis and WSTR (Star 94)/Atlanta, to name a few.
