What’s New With Oldies?
• So happy you asked! Big week for Oldies 95.9 & 106.9 (WIRK-HD3)/Palm Beach Gardens, FL, owned by VCMG Live, Inc., which 1) recently held its 5th Birthday Celebration with a free concert starring pop icon Tony Orlando, and 2) announced a new morning show and weekend personality.
First, the Tony Orlando concert, which took place at the Abacoa Amphitheater in scenic Jupiter, FL, attended by thousands and hosted by radio royalty/midday personality Scott Shannon (pictured here with Vic Canales, Pres./Owner of VCMG Live).
During the celebration, VCMG Live proudly introduced two new on-air additions — South Florida radio favorites Skip Kelly for mornings, and Jennifer Wylde for weekends. Kelly (below, right) has been a staple on West Palm Beach radio since 1986, most recently a 22-year run in afternoons at iHeartMedia AC WOLL (KOOL 105.5). Ms. Wylde (below, left) previously cracked the mic at WZTA (94.9 Zeta) and WBGG (Big 106)/Miami and WKGR (98.7 The Gator)/W. Palm Beach.
“Oldies 95.9/106.9FM is a product of a complete team effort, and this station represents how radio used to be; unscripted and FUN,” said Raymond “Chief” Hernandez, SVP of Programming for VCMG Live. “We want to speak to our local listeners and businesses with familiar and distinctive voices while playing the hits. This area has a rich musical heritage, and Oldies is here to fill that void.”
Canales said, “VCMG Live is all about giving advertisers and listeners the best experience possible. The True Oldies Channel 95.9/106.9FM will always be special because we engage with our community and play the hippest music from the ’60s and ’70s.”
The Palm Beach’s Good Time Oldies station features middays with Scott Shannon weekdays from 10am-3pm, afternoons with John Tesh, Titans of the Palm Beaches with Jay Oliver, Inside Out with Anita Mitchell, and several local programs.
