Wilson Named PD of Charlotte’s 96.9 The Kat

• iHeartMedia has named Ashley Wilson as Program Director of heritage Country WKKT (96.9 The Kat)/Charlotte, effective Monday, October 16. She will also handle the 1-3pm air shift.

Wilson, a North Carolina native, earns the transfer to Charlotte from her current position as Director of Country Programming for iHeart’s Kentucky/West Virginia Region, where she has oversight of 97.5 WAMZ/Louisville and WBUL (98.1 The Bull)/Lexington, along with several other brands.

Upon her arrival, Wilson will report to A.J., iHeartMedia Region SVP of Programming for the Carolina Metro, who commented, “Ashley holds a winning track record and I’m excited for her to join and lead our team at 96.9 The Kat. Her unique vision, creativity and innovative style of thinking will ensure that the station continues to do great things in Charlotte.”

Wilson has served in her current regional role since July 2019. She joined iHeartMedia in 2017 as PD of Country WNOE/New Orleans, transitioning from APD/MD/middays at Renda Country WGNE (Gator 99.9)/Jacksonville. Wilson earlier served as MD/morning co-host at Beasley Media Country WKML/Fayetteville, NC, and she spent the first nine years of her radio career at Curtis Media Group Country WMMY-FM/Jefferson, NC.
