WKQX Seeks Flakus Replacement

• Yesterday we told you that major market Alt/Rock star Walter Flakus was leaving his longtime post as APD/MD and evening entertainer at Cumulus Alternative WKQX/Chicago to become the new APD and afternoon drive personality on Entercom Alternative KNDD (107.7 The End)/Seattle, effective August 6.

Needless to say, now that the word is out about Flakus’ impending departure from the Windy City, the campaign to fill his sizable shoes has already gotten underway.

Troy Hanson, who deftly balances three jaunty hats as Cumulus VP of Rock Programming, VP of Operations for Cumulus Chicago and PD of 101WKQX is now actively seeking what he accurately describes as “the next curation tastemaker” at WKQX. “We are looking for a new APD/MD/evening talent,” Hanson tells RAMP. “Big gig, big station, big market.”

Qualified candidates are cordially invited to apply online via the Cumulus “Work Here” portal, and you can also let Troy know about your intense level of interest via email at troy.hanson@cumulus.com.
