WLRH Unveils Expanded Triple A Content

• Public Radio WLRH/Huntsville, AL has expanded its Triple A programming, with music now filling 19 hours of the station’s weekday schedule. The format leans Triple A with a Southern and Americana flair, blending established favorites with emerging artists across Indie Rock, Americana, Folk, Roots, Alternative, and Singer-Songwriters, while specialty programming continues to showcase Indie Country, World Music, local and regional artists, Goth, Jazz, and more throughout the week.

The refreshed lineup (details HERE) is the latest step in WLRH’s evolution following its high-profile decision last October to end its NPR affiliation after Congress eliminated federal funding for public media. Since then, the station has continued to build audience and community support, climbing to No. 4 (12+) in the Huntsville market in the March-April-May Nielsen CDM ratings.

The station moved Morning Edition to middays last year and replaced it with a local show, Tennessee Valley Mornings, which earned the 2025 Alabama Broadcaster’s Association award for Best Morning Show across the state, along with four other trophies.

“Triple A is one of radio’s great discovery formats, and it aligns perfectly with public radio’s mission of introducing listeners to something new,” said GM Erich Brukner. Music scheduling is overseen by market veteran Marsha Arends. Record labels and promoters may service music to WLRH Public Radio, UAH Campus, 301 Sparkman Drive, Huntsville, AL 35899, or contact Marsha directly at marsha@wlrh.org.
