WOR’s Joe Bartlett Announces Retirement

Joe Bartlett announced his retirement as News Director and morning drive news anchor at iHeartMedia’s 710 WOR/New York after 37 years as a full-time member of the station’s air staff. His final day on the air will be May 31. Bartlett had actually planned to go fishin’ three years ago, but when the Covid-19 pandemic hit he decided to postpone his retirement.

In nearly four decades with WOR, Bartlett has delivered the news for 11 different WOR morning shows, most recently with Len Berman and Michael Riedel, and he has reported on some of the biggest stories in New York history, including 9/11. During his lengthy WOR tenure, Bartlett has also hosted talk shows on the station, including the long-running WOR Saturday Morning Show.

“I loved my job and have been fortunate to have been part of this great station for all these years,” said Bartlett, who has relocated to South Carolina with his wife. “I could have gone on much longer, but the time had come, where I just needed more free time. Sadly, this is not a job you can do only six months a year. I have been blessed to have had a caring radio ownership, extremely talented co-workers and a very loyal audience.”

WOR Program Director Tom Cuddy remarked, “It’s rare in this business to encounter as versatile a radio personality as Joe: anchor, news director, and talk show host… not to mention an all-around nice guy. He will be missed not just by our listeners but also by our staff.”

In his newfound free time, Bartlett is looking forward to having more time for golf, seeing his grandchildren, and supporting his favorite football team, the NY Giants. Pictured, (l-r): Len Berman, Michael Riedel, and Joe Bartlett.
