Ft. Myers Forecast: Sunny, Chance Of Ralphie

• UPDATED: Last week we told you that Ralphie Marino was moving from Cape Cod to Ft. Myers, FL to be closer to his kids… this week, the story gets even better, as Marino has been named APD and morning personality at Beasley Media Group AC WJPT (Sunny 106.3)/Ft. Myers. He starts Monday, July 15.

Marino spent the past five years doing mornings at CCB Media Hot AC WQRC (99.9 The Q)/Cape Cod, MA while also doing part-time at Beasley Country WKLB (Country 102.5)/Boston. His lengthy resumes includes stops at WKTU/New York, WJMN (Jam’n 94.5), WODS and the former WQSX (Star 93.7)/Boston, WERZ/Portsmouth, NH and the former WIGX (94X)/Nassau-Suffolk, NY.

“In the radio business, it’s RARE to be able to put family first,” said Marino. “Thank you to Beasley/SWFL for giving me the privilege of being able to do just that. My family is thrilled. I cannot wait to get started and be a positive contributor to my new community!”

Operations Manager Adam Star remarked, “Ralph’s great attitude and major market delivery is exactly what we were looking for in morning drive on WJPT. We are very excited to have him come down from our Boston cluster and join the Fort Myers team!”

• In a related story, former Sunny PD/morning talent Matt Mangas has formally re-acquired his programming position at Sunny 106.3, while maintaining his current role as PD and midday personality across the hall on Active Rock sister WRXK (96K-Rock). Back in April we reported that Mangas had assumed the PD spot on 96K-Rock when Jeff Zito transferred to Classic Rock sister WPBB (98.7 The Shark)/Tampa.

OM Adam Star explained, “Matt has been serving as Program Director for both stations in the interim and has been doing a tremendous job. It was an easy decision for us.”

Mangas said, “Brad Beasley and Adam Star have shown a tremendous amount of confidence in me. I’m surrounded by great talent on both stations and look forward to continuing as PD for Sunny 106.3 as well as jumping back into the rock world at 96K-Rock!”
