Get Well, Matt Pinfield!
We want to extend our most heartfelt best wishes to a talented radio pro and a wonderful guy — Matt Pinfield, co-host of the Bryan, Alicia & Matt morning show on Cumulus Media’s KFOG/San Francisco, who on Tuesday announced on the air he would be taking a personal leave of absence to take care of a drinking problem. Pinfield, 55, and the author of the recently released memoir, All These Things That I’ve Done: My Insane, Improbable Rock Life, recently revealed to Billboard that he taking several medications, including blood thinners, to treat congestive heart failure. He also said he recently had a slip involving alcohol and made a decision to go straight to a California treatment facility to get back on track. “I have a responsibility to my health,” he told Billboard. “I decided to fix my problem. I’m going to do this. It feels good to me. It’s the right thing.”
This isn’t the first time that Pinfield has publically struggled with alcohol — he faced a similar situation in 2009 when he was working at the former WRXP/New York.
Pinfield’s current health update is posted on KFOG.com. During Pinfield’s absence, PD Bryan Schock and MD Alicia Tyler will continue to host the KFOG Morning Show with producer Arthur Ballesteros.
