Russell Wakes Up At WOGL

Russell Marilyn 2017Philly fave Marilyn Russell is back in action, as she’s joining The Breakfast Club on CBS Radio Classic Hits WOGL. She starts next Monday, January 9 and will plug in across from co-hosts Frank Lewis and Bill Zimpfer. “Marilyn’s got tons of enthusiasm and a rich history of delivering compelling Philadelphia morning radio,” said Anne Gress, PD of WOGL. “I’m excited about the fresh, new perspective she’ll bring to the show alongside Frank and Bill, and look forward to her contributions both on-air and at our many events. Our listeners will love spending their mornings with the new Breakfast Club.”

Russell is a Philadelphia native who spent the past nine years co-hosting the morning show across the street on Greater Media (now Beasley) Adult Hits WBEN (95.7 Ben FM) until November. Russell got her radio start in 1993 at the late WDRE, and five years later did mornings on the former WPLY (Y100) with current WMMR morning dudes Preston Elliot and Steve Morrison. Commenting on her new wake-up opportunity, Russell said, “I feel as though someone is going to pinch me and I’ll wake up from a dream. To be asked to join 98.1 WOGL, a station with such great heritage here in Philly is completely mind-blowing. I feel extremely blessed and lucky to do the best radio possible with a great crew!” Russell replaces Valerie Knight, who left in December.
