Last week we told you Meredith Dunkel was stepping down from her morning co-host spot at Cumulus AC KMGA (99.5 Magic FM)/Albuquerque, NM for a new gig TBA… well, now that new job has been revealed — Ms. Dunkel is packing for a move back to Tucson, hired as the new afternoon drive personality at Scripps AC KMXZ (94.9 MIXfm). In making the official announcement, OM Smokey Rivers stood in the lobby and proudly proclaimed, “After a long search for the right host for the vacant afternoon drive position, Meredith Dunkel will be joining the MIXfm Tucson team later this month.”

Dunkel caught the radio bug while attending Southern Illinois University, working at WCIL/Carbondale, IL. She later went on to do weekends/swing at WLUM/Milwaukee and WTMX/Chicago, then co-hosted mornings on KQBT/Austin, KZPT (104-1 The Point)/Tucson, KSTP (KS95)/Minneapolis-St. Paul and KKFR/Phoenix. Rivers added, “Her unique behind-the-scenes experiences include working for the Oprah Winfrey Show, producing and performing on KTMY/Minneapolis (the model for Talk Radio targeted to Women) and writing for the Nineball Radio Network’s daily prep service.”

Rivers later told RAMP, “Meredith was on our sister Hot AC station, KZPT (104-1 The Point) for a brief encounter in 2004. She maintained relationships with several people in the building. Everyone who knows her gives her high marks. She pegs both the cultural and performance meters.”
