‘Gluten Free Radio’ A Healthy Option

• Bahakel Top 40 WDOD (Hits 96)/Chattanooga is thrilled to announce the impending launch of its new 7-midnight show — The Gluten Free Radio Show, featuring Alex Waters and Calista Liew is a brand new syndication effort, with WDOD as its inaugural affiliate. The show spotlights the engaging friendship of Waters & Calista both on-air and in the world of social media, where they met.

Waters (left) is already a familiar name in the WDOD hallways — he did nights there until late 2019, when he left to do afternoon drive on Max Media Top 40 WVHT (Hot 100)/Norfolk. Logistically speaking, here’s where the nuts and bolts of Gluten Free Radio get interesting — Waters will continue to do afternoons on WVHT, while his co-host Calista (right) operates from halfway around the world from her home base at Malaysia’s Hitz FM. No, seriously.

OM Todd Haller commented, “We are very excited about our future direction at nights in Chattanooga. It’s great to be on the ground floor of the next big show.” Waters said, “My pop radio career began in Chattanooga, so it makes sense that my syndication career would begin in the ‘Scenic City,’ too! Special thanks to [GM] Danny Howard, Todd Haller, and [MD] Gino D for their southern hospitality. By adding Calista and me to nights, Hits 96 will continue dominating the competition, 12 months out of the year.” Calista added, “Waters and I met on Twitter, hosting a virtual panel discussion. After two years of friendship and collaboration, plus five years in the radio industry, I’m so excited to be bringing the fun and our constant debates to the Chattanooga airwaves!”

The Gluten Free Radio Show begins Monday Jan. 31 and replaces Westwood One’s now defunct Zach Sang Show. For more information about The Gluten Free Radio Show, contact Alex Waters at 617-987-5313.
