Katz & Cross On The Loose
• There’s been a major change in mornings on iHeartMedia AC WASH-FM/Washington, as longtime morning host Loo Katz has exited. In a statement, Regional SVP of Programming Jeff Kapugi said, “We appreciate all of his contributions during his time with us and wish him well. Chilli Amar will continue with the WASH-FM morning show and we are in the process of naming Loo’s successor and hope to do so in the coming days.”
According to a Facebook post, Katz had been with WASH-FM for 17 years; the first three in afternoons and the past 14 in mornings. He has been on-air fixture in the DC market for a remarkable 46 years.
• RAMP has learned that Michael Cross has exited NRG Media Active Rock KFMW (Rock 108)/Waterloo-Cedar Rapids, IA as his FM Operations Manager position was eliminated. Cross recently celebrated his 20th year at the station. We understand programming will be handled internally for now.
Cross’s extensive radio resume includes KAZR (Lazer 103.3)/Des Moines from ’96-’97, PD stops at KSQY/Rapid City, SD and KJKJ/Grand Forks, ND, and in the ’80s he was APD/MD at KJJO/Minneapolis and did mornings on the Z-Rock Network in Dallas.
Looking ahead, Cross said, “I’m excited to start on a new path… but don’t you think I’d scare the elderly as a WalMart greeter?” In the meantime, Cross can be contacted at 319-240-2125 or amfmdx1980@gmail.com.
