• Matrix Broadcasting’s suburban Chicago AC WZSR (Star 105.5)/Woodstock, IL keeps it in the family and promotes Production Director Bruce Cole to the PD chair. Cole (below, left) succeeds Joe Cicero, who has relinquished his stripes to focus on his other fulltime job hosting the Star 105.5 morning show.
Cole has served in that production role since December 2016, and his lengthy radio resume contains previous on-air stops at WUSN (US99)/Chicago, as well as full-and part-time positions at iHeartMedia’s WMIL, WQBW, WOKY and WRIT/Milwaukee. In the early ’90s Cole programmed WFBC-FM & AM/Greenville, SC, and before that he was OM/PD of WYSY, WAUR-AM and WMRO/Aurora, IL.
In making the announcement, GM Kathleen Cahill said, “In his capacity as Production Director for Matrix Broadcasting, Bruce has shown excellent leadership skills, strong creative abilities and the commitment to quality programming that is essential to managing the uniquely successful brand of Star 105.5. Bruce’s extensive background in the radio industry and his reputation as a true team player made him an outstanding candidate for this important position.”
