Remembering Steve Fingerett
• We were saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Fingerett, former longtime Minneapolis/Midwest Regional rep for Warner Bros. Records, who died Thursday evening, Oct. 18 while under hospice care. As we reported last week, Fingerett had suffered a massive stroke shortly after undergoing spinal surgery on Monday, and never woke up.
As his sister, Sally posted in a touching Facebook tribute, “[Steve] had made a difficult and courageous choice to undergo high-risk spine surgery for his chronic and immobilizing degenerative bone disease, and though he made it through 8 hours of spine surgery, he suffered a massive stroke in the ICU recovery room.” Because of an ironclad DNR order, Fingerett was placed under hospice care and passed away on Thursday night. He had turned 67 years old on Sept. 18.
Fingerett famously served as Warner Bros. Records’ Minneapolis/Midwest Regional rep from 1977-99. He also worked at KQRS/Minneapolis back in the day. For the past 20 years he was the owner/operator of The FingerPrints Group, which is described as “a collection of companies including a graphics and web design company, a music industry consultant, manufacturing company and distributor of two products for the Magic Performance Industry.”
As Sally wrote in her touching tribute to her brother, “There will be no formal funeral or burial, but rather his donation to science and a celebration of his life at some later date. Hopefully, we’ll host this in some rib joint with a beautiful busty vocalist who sings Prince songs.” She added, Rest in peace now Stevie, you’ve earned it. Place your order for a full slab to share and don’t forget to… save me a seat. Your kid sister, Sally.”
