Suspect Arrested In Hussle Murder
• Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Eric Holder, the 29-year-old suspect wanted in connection with Sunday’s murder of rapper Nipsey Hussle, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed. At press time he had not yet been formally charged.
According to an account in Variety, deputies at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lakewood station got a call at 12:53pm Tuesday from a person who had seen someone matching Holder’s description. The deputies went to an address in the city of Bellflower and arrested Holder without incident. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti also confirmed the news of Holder’s arrest in a tweet that read, “Eric Holder, the suspect in the murder of Nipsey Hussle, has been arrested and is now in custody. Thank you to our LAPD officers for tireless work to find the suspect and seek justice that Nipsey’s family and community deserve.”
A manhunt had been underway since Sunday, when Hussle was shot multiple times outside his Marathon Clothing store at Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. An autopsy determined that he died of gunshot wounds to the head and torso. Police identified Holder as the suspect on Monday night, and had asked for the public’s help in locating him. Holder and Hussle are believed to have known each other, said LAPD Chief Michel Moore.
• On Monday evening, while hundreds gathered at memorial for Hussle outside of his store, a fight broke out and a stampede ensued, leaving at least 19 people injured, two of them critically — one of them struck by a car and the other had a “penetrating injury,” although it’s still unclear whether that person was stabbed or cut by broken glass, a fire department spokeswoman said. Two other injuries were serious and 15 were considered non-life-threatening. [Holder’s photo: LAPD]
