• RAMP has confirmed that Matty Staudt has resigned his position as iHeartRadio’s VP of Podcast Programming to open his own L.A.-based shop, Jam Street Media, which will be focused on “podcasts for brands, talent coaching, and consulting for businesses entering the podcast space.” Staudt’s new business partner is Jessica Navarro, who is currently EVP and Head of Production for Mark Wahlberg‘s Unrealistic Ideas. In a memo announcing his new venture, Staudt said, “I’m hoping to share my many years of experience in the space to create some great shows and break new ground in podcasting as well as work as a mentor for companies heading into the podcasting space.”
Staudt joined iHeartMedia in April 2017 as Digital Program Director of the company’s San Francisco cluster, where he developed the first local branded podcast strategy and launched more than 30 original locally focused podcasts. He was upped to VP of Podcast Programming at iHeartRadio in June 2018.
Staudt began his radio career nearly 30 years ago at his hometown radio station, WQZK/Keyser, WV and has since worked as a producer, consultant and mentor at stations across the country. In 2008, his passion for podcasting led him to become part of the startup team and first director of content and community for Stitcher before moving to Premiere Networks as a consulting producer. On the radio side, Staudt previously an Executive Producer at CBS Radio’s KITS (Live 105) and KLLC (Alice 97.9)/San Francisco, and he also worked at WJFK/Washington and the late WNEW/New York.
In closing, Staudt said, “I have LOVED my time at iHeart and getting to be radio’s first VP of Podcast Programming was the culmination of 29 years of work in radio, 8 years in higher education, and 12 years in podcasting. In the time I have spent with iHeart I have been able to help launch hundreds of podcasts and create podcast networks in every major market in the United States. The talent at iHeart is the best and it’s been my pleasure to work with them and help them move forward into the world of podcasting. This is not goodbye at all, and I am sure I will be working with iHeart for years to come and I will continue to host Access Podcast for IHR.” Going forward, Staudt can be contacted at matty@jamstreetmedia.com.
