Great Moments In Syndication
• Former CIA officer-turned radio and TV personality Buck Sexton has joined Premiere Networks as host of Buck Sexton with America Now, effective February 6. The former CNN commentator and radio/TV host for TheBlaze will be based in New York and roll live weekdays from 3-6pm PT/6-9pm ET on over 100 affiliates. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome Buck as host of America Now,” stated Premiere Networks President Julie Talbott. “He’s smart and engaging, and his previous work with the U.S. Intelligence Community makes him uniquely qualified to lead conversations about the news, events and issues that affect all Americans. We’re confident Buck’s distinct perspective will resonate with America Now‘s national audience and create powerful multi-platform opportunities for our partners.”
Sexton replaces Meghan McCain, who left Jan. 31 to focus on her expanded role at Fox News. KFI/Los Angeles personality Bryan Suits is guest-hosting the program for the remainder of this week. Buck Sexton with America Now will also be available on iHeartRadio.com and AmericaNowRadio.com.
• Congrats to our friend (and fellow Beatles fan) Joe Johnson, who was just offered a two-year extension for his Westwood One-syndicated radio show Beatle Brunch, distributed by Compass Media. As Johnson explains, “I began self-syndication of Beatle Brunch in 1992 on five radio stations and brought it up to 38 stations on my own, using a four-stack CD duplicator, stamps, envelopes and cue sheets from a typewriter. In July of 2000, I took it to Westwood One, which began syndication of Joe Johnson’s Beatle Brunch. On May 31 the show will begin its 26th year airing continuously without ever missing an episode, produced in my home Pro Tools studio in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.”
Commenting on his extension, Johnson tells RAMP, “I am very honored and excited to extend my relationship with this amazing group of people who put out quality radio products every day and I’m humbled to be working among them.” Any station interested in airing The Brunch should contact Doug Ingold at dingold@compassmedianetworks.com. The demo is also posted online.
