Watt’s Up At AMP Radio?
Entercom Top 40 KAMP (97.1 AMP Radio)/Los Angeles has experienced a minor avalanche of jock moves, starting with the high profile departure of morning anchor host Edgar “Shoboy” Sotelo after nearly two years in the wake-up seat.
Sotelo (left) broke the news of his departure via Instagram, posting this message that read, “Familia, Yesterday was my last day @971ampradio. Management decided to go a different direction. I want to thank them for the time that I was there. Most importantly, I’m BEYOND GRATEFUL for YOU that listened every morning. I will always consider you my familia. Please keep supporting my friends at Amp Radio. I wish them the best. I Have Faith that The best is yet to come for you and my family because… #God’sGotThis! THANK YOU, Los Quiero, Love Ya y Animo!”
Sotelo debuted on AMP Radio Los Angeles in January 2018, two months after his previous morning gig on CBS Radio Top 40 WBMP (92.3 AMP Radio)/New York evaporated when the Entercom sale became final and the station flipped to ALT 92.3. Before moving to New York in January 2015 Sotelo enjoyed a successful five-year run as host of Shoboy en la Mañana on CBS Radio Regional Mexican KMVK (La Grande 107.5)/Dallas.
In the wake of Shoboy’s departure, Chris Booker (left) moves up from afternoons to mornings, joining existing co-hosts Chelsea Briggs and Krystal Bee. At the same time, AMP MD Yesi Ortiz slides from middays into afternoon drive, and Christen is elevated from weekends to middays. The one constant in this personnel equation is night jock McCabe, who keeps doing his 7-midnight thing.
