Frank Ski Loaded With Options
• Atlanta’s own Frank Ski made the on-air announcement of his imminent departure from mornings Entercom’s WVEE (V-103) at 8:50am Wednesday. This was Ski’s second tour of duty at V-103– he previously did mornings there from 1998-2012. As was announced earlier today, Big Tigger is moving up from afternoons to mornings, and Kenny Burns is returning to V-103 to do afternoons.
Ski also shared his feelings in a Wednesday morning Facebook post that read, “After much consideration, talks with my family and most importantly, talks with God, I have decided to leave V103. This wasn’t an easy decision but I’m grateful this is MY decision. My decision to leave is a result of wanting a different experience and my desire to grow. It’s never easy to say goodbye, but if you understand God’s promises, you can’t help but to be excited for what’s ahead. Thank you to Rick [Caffey] & Reggie [Rouse], My Morning Culture team… My V-103 co-workers… but most of all, thank you to my V-103 listener family. Y’all have supported me for decades.” Ski added, “We are in the middle of a global pandemic, national race tensions, a presidential election year and more. We have much work to do. It is my duty to use my voice to take our community to the next level. Stay tuned… BIG ANNOUNCEMENT AHEAD.”
• And while that announcement is not yet official, it is strongly rumored that Ski will be taking over the afternoon drive spot at Howard University’s WHUR/Washington, replacing married afternoon duo Allison Seymour and Marc Clarke. Ski has a prior history in the DMV, having done afternoons on WHUR a few years back, as well as a stint at WERQ (93Q)/Baltimore. Speaking to that scenario, Frank’s agent Gary Bernstein told RAMP, “Frank is excited about an opportunity at WHUR doing afternoons that could start as early as the first week in August. He is also looking forward to the next chapter in Atlanta, whether on radio, TV, or both. He is arguably one of the most successful air personalities in the history of Atlanta radio when you take into account ratings, revenue, and overall impact on the community.”
Addressing other persistent rumors that Frank Ski will also be replacing Steve Harvey on Radio One’s WAMJ (Magic 107.5/97.5)/Atlanta, Bernstein had no comment.
