Next Chapter For Jessica Cash
• Wrapping up a rewarding broadcasting career, the past 14 years as co-host of the Steve & Jessica morning show on Alpha Media Country WFLS/Fredericksburg, VA, Jessica Cash announced her impending retirement, effective this Friday, August 21.
“Fourteen years is a long time for someone in our profession to be in one place,” Cash remarked. “I’ve had the good fortune to do that, to hopefully get your day started with a smile. But, now it’s time for me to make a change in my life.” She added, “August 21st will be my last day on WFLS… my last day to say good morning to our friends, no, our family. We wake up together every morning and you’ve made my experiences in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Caroline, and Orange Counties ones that I will never forget. To see all of you at the Celebrate Virginia concerts, to the Bowling Green Fall Festival, to Riverfest, you became part of my life. I want to thank you for your friendship, your loyalty, and your love for these 14 years. I know I’ll miss you.”
Jessica and her co-host, Steve Waters have won many awards during her time in Fredericksburg, the most recent being the CMA Small Market Morning Show in 2018 and the ACM Small Market Personality in 2019. She said, “I’ll miss my radio partner, Steve Waters, who became a good friend, not just a coworker and I’ll miss the team here at the radio station.” Market Manager Jeff Boden said, “Someone with Jessica’s talents is a rare find and we are very lucky to have had her as a central part of our family for so long.” Content/Operations Manager Bill West added, “Creative, dedicated, focused, and connected is what Jessica is. We will miss the light that she brings each morning to our station!”
As for Cash’s immediate plans? “That’s easy. I’ll find a beach to refresh my soul,” she said. “I’ll watch a sunrise not because I’m doing the morning show, but because I can soak it in. And when I’m not watching the sunrise, I’ll be sleeping in!”
• Alpha Media Fredericksburg is now starting an active search for Cash’s successor at WFLS.
