RadioNOW Houston Flips To Praise
• After a decade’s absence, Radio One Houston has returned the Inspirational “Praise” format to an upgraded signal on 92.1FM, flipping Top 40 KROI (RadioNOW 92.1) back to “Houston’s Inspiration Station,” KROI (Praise 92.1 & 102.1, KMJQ-HD2).
“It’s a privilege to re-launch such an uplifting and positive station, especially during these times of uncertainty where people are looking for outlets of love and hope to keep them inspired,” said Pam McKay, VP/GM of Radio One Houston. Terri Thomas, Operations Manager of Radio One Houston, commented, “It’s in times like these where people want to escape from today’s challenging realities and listen to music that inspires and makes them feel good.”
The new weekday schedule for Praise 92.1/102.1 looks like this — 5-9am: Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell; 9am-2pm: TJ Jackson; 2-6pm: The Willie Moore Jr. Show; 6-10pm: Darlene McCoy.
• As a result of the flip, RadioNow MD/midday personality Laura Dickerson has exited and is now seeking her next opportunity. As Terri Thomas explains to RAMP, “Laura is a phenomenal talent/MD (and future programming superstar). She has EVERYTHING a good programmer should want: talented personality, work ethic, strong social skills, MusicMaster, production, phenomenal attitude, smart and lives the formats: Top 40, Country, Hot AC.”
Dickerson (left) was part of the original line-up of RadioNOW when it launched in 2017 and was promoted to MD in 2019. Before that she served in multiple roles for KMVA (Hot 97.5/103.9)/Phoenix, and she started her career in her hometown of Boston, working on the Matty In The Morning show on WXKS (Kiss 108).
