WMMJ Doubles Its DC Footprint

Radio One is excited to announce a transaction that will expand the coverage area of Urban AC WMMJ (Majic 102.3)/Washington — the company has acquired 92.7 WWXT-FM from Red Zebra Broadcasting. The Class A FM is licensed to Prince Frederick, MD and is currently an ESPN affiliate. Effective at 12:01am on May 1, Majic’s programming will commence simulcasting on 92.7 and 102.3. The existing programming line-up remains intact: The Russ Parr Morning Show rolls from 6-10am, followed by local host Vic Jagger in middays, market icon Donnie Simpson in afternoon drive and John Monds’ nationally syndicated show, Love and R&B, running Sunday through Thursday from 7pm to midnight.

In making the announcement, Jeff Wilson, Senior Regional Vice President and General Manager, Radio One DC said, “I’m thrilled by this acquisition and unique opportunity to immediately expand the footprint of our heritage station, WMMJ FM. My team is going to keep doing what we do best, programming the most entertaining, inspiring and well informed listener experiences in urban radio and be proud knowing that even more people are impacted.”
