Local Radio Sticks With Nixon
• Longtime programmer-turned-budding media mogul Todd Nixon is having a good month — his company, Sticks Media, just launched a newly acquired station in scenic Lompoc, CA and is in the process of acquiring a second… um… stick, this one in Missouri.
After several days of stunting on KTNK-AM 1410/K279CY/Lompoc (conveniently located adjacent to Vandenberg Space Force Base), Sticks launched a new Classic Hits station, appropriately named Rocket 103.7, “Lompoc’s Greatest Hits.”
“Radio is more than just music — it’s about connection, information, and being a part of daily life in Lompoc,” said Nixon. “Rocket 103.7 isn’t just another station — it’s built for this community, with a mix of music and local content that truly reflects what Lompoc wants to hear.” Nixon is anchoring the morning show, followed by the dulcet tones of Rick Woodhouse (PD/mornings, Classic Hits WNBZ/Plattsburgh, NY) in middays, with local talent Tayler Smith in afternoons.
Now, the sequel — Sticks Media proudly announces the upcoming acquisition of 97.1 KAYQ-FM/Warsaw, MO — currently Classic Country 97.1 The Lake — serving the Warsaw, Clinton, Sedalia, and the surrounding Twin Lakes region of Turman Lake and Lake of The Ozarks.
“We’re thrilled to expand our footprint and continue using the power of radio to connect and engage communities,” said Nixon, President of Sticks Media. “KAYQ has a dedicated audience and a rich history of serving its community. We’re excited to build on that foundation—enhancing local engagement, strengthening partnerships with area businesses, and continuing to provide the great content listeners love.”
The pending acquisition from Valkyrie Broadcasting is pending FCC approval, and is expected to be finalized by Q2. For more details about Sticks Media, visit SticksMedia.com or contact Todd at 805-338-6383 or todd@sticksmedia.com.
