Mortimer & Nix To Head Creative At Capitol
• Joe Mortimer and Sara Nix have been named Co-Heads of Creative at Capitol Music Group.
Mortimer joins Capitol after serving as Creative Director at Astralwerks since 2018, and Nix comes to Capitol after a lengthy tenure at Partizan, the company founded by the acclaimed director Michel Gondry, where she served as Executive Producer for the last six years.
“Sara and Joe come to Capitol after having worked with some of the most acclaimed artists, directors and creative visionaries in the world,” said Tom March, Chairman & CEO of Capitol Music Group. “Together they form a potent team to help the incredible artists on our label reach their full creative potential and drive our ongoing transformation at Capitol.”
While at Astralwerks, Mortimer built global campaigns for Marshmello, Illenium, Avalanches, SG Lewis and Zhu, and was a frequent collaborator with Capitol artists such as The Beatles, Katy Perry and Beck. Mortimer previously worked in London as an Art Director. Earlier this year Mortimer co-created the California Picture Project, a photographic print sale that raised funds for the Los Angeles wildfires, through generous contributions by over 160 artists, including Spike Jonze, Sofia Coppola, Gabriel Moses, Nadia Lee Cohen & Petra Collins, to name a few. “Over the years I’ve worked closely with many of the executives and artists at Capitol,” said Mortimer. “I’m so excited to be taking on this role to steer the creative vision of the label along with Sara.”
Nix began her career in production nearly 15 years ago in Amsterdam and has produced and overseen projects across multiple continents, and has worked with artists as diverse as Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk, Travis Scott, Billie Eilish, Usher, Dua Lipa, A$AP Rocky, Burna Boy, Doja Cat and SZA. “I’m thrilled to be joining the Capitol team,” said Nix. “It’s an iconic label with a rich history, and I’m excited to collaborate with the incredible artists here to help them bring their creative visions to life.”
