FCC Commissioner Simington Leaving
• Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Nathan A. Simington announced his impending departure, effective at the end of this week. Simington, a Republican who was nominated and confirmed in 2020, issued a statement that reads, in part, “I will be concluding my tenure at the Federal Communications Commission at the end of this week. It has been the greatest honor of my professional life to serve the American people as a Commissioner. I am deeply honored to have been entrusted with this responsibility by President Donald J. Trump during his first term.”
He added, “The Commission is in excellent hands under the leadership of my distinguished colleague, Chairman Brendan T. Carr, and is supported by an extraordinary staff whose dedication to public service is second to none.”
Simington’s imminent exit is just the latest disruption inside the FCC — Democratic Commissioner Geoffrey Starks recently announced that he plans to step down this month.
