Bonneville Launches Sports Net, Makes Cuts

• Bonneville International unveiled Bonneville Sports Network, which unites the company’s premier sports brands — Arizona Sports, Seattle Sports, Denver Sports, Sactown Sports (Sacramento), and KSL Sports (Salt Lake City) — into one streamlined solution that delivers more than 63 hours of live sports programming every day across audio, video, digital, and social channels, and allows advertisers to buy nationally across markets or fully own their local market.

“Bonneville Sports Network gives advertisers both flexibility and scale,” said Tanya Vea, President & COO, Bonneville International. “Our network reaches fans wherever and whenever they engage with sports, across every platform. Advertisers can now leverage that strength in a way that aligns with their goals, whether they’re pursuing national reach or meaningful local impact.”

Fans will continue to experience each market’s established sports brand, while Bonneville Sports Network gives advertisers a single point of access to these passionate audiences across every format and device.

“This platform creates a unified opportunity for advertisers,” said Aleece Southern, VP, Digital Sales, Bonneville International. “Bonneville Sports Network connects five powerhouse markets, enabling brands to reach millions of fans with one buy or go deeper in a single market through our local sports brands.”

• On a completely different note… TVNewsCheck reports that Bonneville News-Talk KSL-AM & FM and NBC affiliate KSL-TV 5/Salt Lake City cut 30 staffers last week in a consolidation of brand assets that reunited the station’s segmented broadcast and digital groups. The downsized staffers had served in a variety of departments, including news, sales, engineering and marketing.

A statement from KSL to TVNewsCheck reads, in part: “Since 2009, KSL Newsradio and KSL TV have operated in a different company than KSL.com. Wednesday, the step was taken to unify all platforms and aspects of the KSL brand under one leadership team.”

Among those on the radio side exiting: KSL NewsRadio PD Kevin Larue and KSL NewsRadio host Heather Kelly McShane. RAMP has reached out to Bonneville for confirmation.
